As Brando over played it ( that it why he was so good at the Freshman ) Bogard had a limited facies expression, look for his mimic on we are no angels and on African queeen.

Agreed. John Wayne, Eastwood etc were great at what they did, but could they have played Hamlet convincingly?
Lawrence Olivier COULD have played any of Bogart's, Eastwoods or Wayne's roles extremely competently, and may have even been nominated for the Oscars many feel the aforementioned deserved, but for me he didn't have the star quality and charisma to match his undoubted acting talent.
