Yes, it can all seem bleak out there in Google-Plex land, but look at what we do have:
*still lots of great acting out there, just a little harder to find-and unavailable at the largest screens in August. I just....avoid.
*global distribution and DVD sales still allow less expensive films to turn a profit-so smaller budget movies are still being produced.
*the over-building of Megaplex theaters has given even medium-sized communities a multi-screen 'art house' theater where the smaller films can be seen on a Big Screen.
*we live in a period where, for a couple of bucks, we can rent and view thousands (and thousands) of movies, from the most widely distributed popcorn blockbuster to the most obscure Russian indie, to be viewed on large screens in the comfort of our own homes. Worst Case Scenario being every new movie produced from this point forward being a piece of shit, I could still watch a movie three times a week for the rest of my life and never see the same one twice. We're damned lucky.
*Many more, but you get my drift. Silver lining, etc.
"dammit"
