Gillian Armstrong's in the mid-90's with Winona Ryder, Susan Sarandon and Gabriel Byrne amongst others. Great ensemble acting, I thought, but La Ryder was entrancing. Even got me (clears throat) reading the books - as I turned 40. Really should have listened more to the girls in my class in primary school!
Follow Ups:
A good film, for sure and superior to the 1949 Elizabeth Taylor version, but the 1933 version, directed by George Cukor and starring a young Kate Hepburn is the one to cherish. It's a real gem.
Just one man's opinion....
