No I donīt think you should think at all in this film, but more like a paper boat left out on a river.
Knowing the basic on vampires, wonīt hurt you.

at least in part. Being a thinking viewer does not mean you can't enjoy the more visceral and creepy aspects of the movie. It does mean you reject the crassness and overwhelming cliches of your standard variety vampire flick. The horror in your typical vampire film is in the scripting and, typically, acting. "Let The Right One In" is beyond that and was obviously written and made with a little more than average care.
"Thinking" does not mean one has to analyze it. It does mean that the filmmakers didn't aim for the brainless. Lord knows, there are more than enough of those about.
And it is my fault. I put weight on one side only, while you can approach this film certainly on many a side.
