ale of an illegal Chinese immigrant's travails that begin when he is visited by loan sharks who threaten him with severe injury if he doesn't come up with $800 by the next day. The frazzled food deliverer realizes he must work extra hard for tips as he races around Manhattan on his bicycle, negotiating muggers, vicious dogs, abusive customers, and dead-beats. The directors wisely divide their time between the frenetic kitchen--- overseen by Big Sister, the manager--- and the actual deliveries which appear so realistic they must have been filmed by a hidden camera.
Like most fine films, this isn't just about the surface story or about the hard life facing illegal immigrants but rather the human relationships which allow even the most vulnerable members of a society to survive.
This may be a "small" film but I bet the face of the delivery man will stay with you a long time.
