Yes, the S/M and D/s was the only interesting part of a really REALLY bad book. About a year or so ago, I was dating a girl that insisted I read the books the series is based on. I held my nose and read the first three, then said I had enough. The TV show is better.

. . . but I've read similar comments to yours on some of the LotS forums: there's a lot of agreement that the TV series is better than the books - I think the picture above is self-evident proof of this. :-)
