Saw Shutter Island last night. I enjoyed it. I was fooled by the movie. The ending took me by surprise and I actually had to think about it. The couple my wife and I saw it with discussed the movie for a while with us. Acting was good, Leonardo became the Marshall. After seeing the movie one could run it back through their mind and many little peculiarities now made sense. I would recommend this movie to anyone.

...and agree completely - it was terrific.
Scorcese and Dicaprio were at the top of their games.
I read Lehane's book a few weeks ago and the plot really surprised me.
The film was a very masterful recreation of the book, characacters, scenery, images and all. It was just the way I'd imagined his descriptions.
Knowing what was coming, I noticed a lot of the looks he got and other things that would be a tip-off, like when he was questionning the inmates.
The only negative for me was the loud, ominous music at the beginning and perhaps one or two other times later in the film.
Too bad it's coming out now - I think it should be up for Oscars next year.
That you have read the book and still enjoyed the movie. Normally movies are really dumbed down. I had a feeling this one wasn't. I didn't read the book.
