thriller in a LONG time, "Brooklyn's Finest." Yeah, full of egregious faults but it builds better than any movie I've seen in a LONG time to a spine-shattering climax(es).
Richard Gere gives the performance of his career and, too bad, at the beginning of the new Oscar contention season. It's that good. Mind, I've never been a Gere fan, either. But here, he's eliminated all the Gere-isms and whittled it down to a human scale character, devoid of acting charisma, chutzpah, and that ridiculous grin. A NOT to be missed performance.
Follow Ups:
I was really surprised by this one. Three concurrent stories, high drama, no comedy relief, and no happy endings. This was grit and guts.
It was good to see Wesley Snipes back....I guess he and IRS worked something out.
Check out Gere's "good morning" routine. He borrowed it from tin.
Share a bowl of grits with someone you love tonight.
