Jean-Pierre Jeunet made Delicatessen and Amelie; this is more Delicatessen and is his first film since A Very Long Engagement.
It has all the twisted vision of a group of outsiders, kind of the people who might equally be carnies or circus folk and it has both the kindness and moral certainty of Freaks.
I don't want to throw in any spoilers and so I'll restrict myself to saying it's a haunting story and one with a twist that you might not see coming even if there is a plotline you might well see coming.
But whatever you do, see it as soon as you can.
Follow Ups:
(even though it was a bit gimicky and overlong) about halfway through it reminded me of Amelie and when I looked I found it was the same director (and Audrey Tautou of course) and in some ways a similar formula but engaging nevertheless.
thanks
Phil
