  Your timeless comment reminded me of something. Although there are modern ships visible in parts of the film, I remember no motor vehicles. Everyone walked around the village. In one scene there was a poster on a building for modern tires...looked like radials, but I don't remember the brand. I wondered who the ad would be for, since nobody there seemed to own cars. (-:

  Interestingly, both films are rated the same, at 7.9, on IMDB.

    (obviously just a guess on my part) but I know he liked uncluttered productions so the focus was on the stories...
