The original used art, atmosphere and mood to draw you in, mesmerize, terrorize and haunt your dreams while the second installment used machine guns to blow a hole in the whole concept...IMO.

I do really like ALIENS but it is not the classic that ALIEN is. The first movie had lots of what used to be called "atmosphere" and was genuinely creepy. It builds suspense until it snaps. ALIENS was very in your face. It's loud and predictable and geared for a younger audience who don't/won't have the patience for the exposition of the original film.

ALIEN is a classic and ALIENS a very good film; the rest are worthless, imho.
