Thanks for mentioning it! It's a very cool film and a great gifter/card shark movie. It was nicely cast, filmed and paced. The end switch was not really necessary to me and was almost anticlimactic. I rate this movie as one of the best of its type. Highly entertaining and enjoyable!
Stallone looked extremely well kept. He fit naturally into the part and really brought the presence and gravitas ideal for the role.
As a side note, the inside slingo was so slick that the exact definitions of the technical terms were often beyond me. I assumed that "dealing deuces" was dealing seconds and understood a number of others, but so many mechanic words were spit out that many escaped me.
Agree on the ending, one could have done it many different ways, but the book was written by then and its exact nature was hardly important. Everyone was leaving the scene...The cast was dynamic and diverse, with great cameo by Patrick Bauchau. As far as the terminology - I don't play poker, so I missed much of it, but the gist was easy to get.
Overall - great light film that sparkles dimly.
