After the success of "Dancing in the Streets", Barry Gordy decided to give the next song to the Supremes and they went on to have a long string of #1 hits.

She said the Funk Brothers were the real key to the success of Motown's music and they were well paid for their work.

In those days Motown was quite a mill, open 24 hours a day with a group of full-time songwriters, full-time the house band - the Funk Brothers - and a bunch of singing groups who fronted the music.

I've read comments from some wishing the filmmakers would have brought back the old singers to sing their old hits. The purpose of the film was to show that the house band deserved more praise for the success of the hits for which they were, and are, given credit.

  Saw it twice. It got me listening much more closely to what was going on in the background of those Motown hits...
