...bestellers or Pulitzer Prize winners.
But Reversal was better than much of the current stuff from other authors.
Take Baldacci...please.
Lee Child is my favorite current author, next to Connelly.
Even he drops the ball...
Follow Ups:
I read three Lee Child books over the past year when you recommended him in a thread a while ago. He's ok, not my favorite. Kind of a palate cleanser for me. It may be my own stupidity, but occasionally I find myself having to reread Child's descriptions because they just seem unclear. That Susan Cheever link is interesting...James Lee Burke seems to have gotten a lot of mileage--and respect--out of the Dave Robicheaux character. Happy reading!!

...a Burke novel and it was too dark for me - I didn't finish it, which is unusual. I don't recall if it was a Robicheaux.
Also picked up a couple of Robert Crais' books since I read they were similar to Child's Reacher series. Not even close.
I've also read and enjoyed most of Parker's Spenser series.
At the end of her school year last year, I gave my 20 year old daughter who loves to read, too, the first of Child's Reacher novels. She read most of the other 12 before school started and now she's hooked like me waiting for a new one.
