There's no discussing this without it all being one gigantic spoiler so I shan't try.
Sophie Marceau's great natural beauty and acting make Zepplin Lips look like a circus freak while Attal's understated looks and performance don't require the quirky screen presence of a Johnny Depp to play the part. Our French pairing released this original in 2005 which down plays the violence and action of the American remake and renders a more realistic and believable film. Instead of a train to Venice it is going to veNICE on the coast. Marceau picks the requisite man as decoy and Attal just happens to be the "lucky guy". Marceau's beauty and sophistication far overshadows her Olympic rival in "The Tourist" and made me yearn to be Attal for this film.
This is the perfect film to watch and compare what the American System can do to a perfectly low-key and satisfying film with out all the complications caused by extended action scenes requiring plenty of stunt players to pull it off. This is simple vs. juiced-up and simple wins. Not only that, "Anthony Zimmer" is quite an interesting task which requires a lot less time than its remake by being a touch under 90 minutes.
Be brave, do it for Sophie and you will never dream of Blimp Lips again.
