Very nice. Anne (Lotte Verbeek) becomes a disenfranchised young Dutch woman who travels as a determined loner to the Emerald Isle. She hitches rides, walks, and camps her way along until she reaches a quiet cove with a classic Irish cottage jutting into the waters. She makes her way down and encounters Matthew (Steven Rhea) and begins a very strange and strained relationship. Like two planets opposite of each other in the same orbit their mutual gravities slowly begin to pull them together to be almost one.
This glacially paced work is beautifully photographed and an intense character study of a woman afraid to bond and a man who has lost his wife. It is filled with the mundane scenes of country life whether digging the bog, weeding the garden, or dancing at the pub. It is worth seeing if you are in the mood for a quiet and reflective look at life in the still existing slow lane.
