And Dicaprio ruined most of the recent efforts. Still no doubt about Scorsese's skill.
I agree about the Criterion titles, by the way. The overwhelming majority of them of I would never watch twice, or sit through once. But for what they are, they're very well produced and packaged. The audio and video is always done right.

"Age of Innocence" is, of course, his greatest film. No need for cheap - tinear 12:36:23 01/25/12 (1)
thrills, gore, and blood. A brilliant adaptation, superb acting, and a careful dissection of mores of that period.
Brilliantly good filmmaking that, unfortunately, is a rarity in a country obsessed with violence.
