Let me mention a couple of features I like about Roku, could you tell me if they are preserved in Roku 2?
One - as it loads the film, it shows the quality level, very clearly. Sony doesn't. Does Roku 2 also have the quality scale, like four dots then HD?
When fast forwarding, or rewinding Roku, you get the series of thumbnails, showing very clearly where you want to stop. Sony doesn't have it, it simply has the time counter, so if you know the scene you want, but not its time tick, you are out of luck.
On Roku I also like the single-row presentation of movies on the list - on Sony there are three rows, hence the images are too small to clearly see.
There maybe more... :)
Follow Ups:
On Netflix, the Roku 2 does not show the quality as it loads. There is a red bar that goes across as the film loads. The film starts at low resolution, and the Roku increases the resolution within the first 20 seconds or so to the highest level allowed by your current internet speed. Some of the other Roku channels show "HD" at the end of the red line.
On Netflix, you do see thumbnails as you fast forward or rewind. Some of the other channels do not show this.
On Netflix, you see several rows of movies, but you can press the OK button to get a larger view and a little information about each movie.
I have not used Vudu or Hulu on the Roku, so the interface may very well be different. But as a manufacturer of top-notch audio equipment, surely you will like the availability of Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 on some material...
I didn't know the features were site-specific! Based on what you are saying, I might just get the Roku 2 to try, if I like it I will keep it. Prices have dropped to such ridiculous level it is incredibly tempting.
