I will point out that this is a few years old and has been reshown on TV a few times now.
If you're a zombiephile, you'll enjoy it.
Another good, and relatively unheard of, Zombie film that I'd recommend is "Fido"; (A zombie love story!)
Follow Ups:
I will give it tray again...I am more into 'end-of the world theme' I'd suggest the Argentinian "Phase 7" - where you have to watch your fellow man being your worst enemy. Very plausible scenario.
“Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead"

But if you look at it as a kind of campy type of horror movie, (i.e. Evil Dead 2 or Army of Darkness, Return of the Living Dead, or even to a certain extent, the new Cabin in the Woods movie, which is pretty good btw), and especially if you remember the old "Lassie" show, you'll appreciate it even more. (Plus watching Billy Connolly's expressions is a hoot.)
