not too much mindless action (ala Transformers).

Tom Hiddleston makes for a good bad guy

Overall the story is good thanks to Joss Wheden

better than most CGI action films (if not all) and recommended

Pretty much second your review. It is was it is -- superhero action movie. But Whedon was able to tweak it enough to make me very happy, please the crowds and give the material its due.
