... If just to see Charlize Theron in 3D wasn't enough, welcome to the most photo-realistically convincing space journey realized since the groundbreaking "2001: A Space Odyssey".
Plot? If you've seen Alien, or most significant sci-fi genre films, this one plays itself unselfconsciously as a homage to some of the very best in 20th century cinema. In other words: history sadly repeats and each life cycle is destined to have to learn or fend for themselves when on the life altering precipice of discovery. And there is room for sequels!
Then there is the eyeball popping 3D workout. My eyes loved every refocusing moment to look into dark corners for the depth of field delights rendered. Scott creates a photo-realistic tapestry to ogle - Charlize Theron notwithstanding.
Groundbreaking cinema - enough said.
Follow Ups:
Saw the Imax 3D last night at midnight, sold out crowd. As a film it was pretty good if you take it on it's own merit. As a prequel of sorts to 'Alien' I had some storyline confusions. The 3D is crystal clear and amazingly rendered....especially during facial close-ups. It was jarringly realistic, as if we were in the set. Amazing really.
Baba-Booey to you all!
