I really like it, and with guilty-pleasure 'Dumbest Stuff on Wheels' on (I hope) summer break, with Longmire I'm now up to 1 hour of TV per week--besides sportscar racing.
So many things I like about it--
1. The hero, a Wyoming-county sheriff, is a grizzled old guy who, while recovering from the recent death of his wife, gets the job done.
2. A deputy is played by Katy Sackoff, Starbuck in 'Battlestar Galactica'.
3. A friend and helper is Henry Standing Bear played excellently by Lou Diamond Phillips.
The stories are relatively realistic and NOT fantastic, and the New Mexican scenery is attractive. There's a little too much shaky-cam for me.
Highly recommended.

Follow Ups:
A contemporary oat burner with great acting. It has a bit of a Tony Hillerman-meets-Stone (Tom Selleck) feel to it. The Indian influences add a bit of mysticism. Great show. A return of the kick ass western, with subtlety.
