I have an employee who lives there and he's happy.
There is reasonably good vinyl to be had.
Only fair-ish for restaurants, but they have a Whole Foods, Corti Brothers, etc. for a decent grocery store array.
It's an easy pop in to SF - about an hour.
Rumor has it, they are thinking of getting an NBA quality team there soon.
The A's and Giants are easy to get to, and the town has a killer fun AAA baseball 'experience.'
Old Town blows dog dick, think of "old sac" as an old sack.
About 90 minutes to Squaw valley, couple hours to the shore at Tahoe.
If you have kids, UC Davis is close, and in state tuition is about half what out of state would be.
All in all, the best thing about Sacramento is that its easy to go someplace else.
Prices may be higher than Mississippi, but still a good time to hop into a home there.
Depending on what part of town you'd be working in, there are some OK water accessible areas to live in at Folsom Lake.
