First strike: So far as I've heard, they haven't allowed reviewers to watch & review the film yet. Often means they want to keep pre-opening bad reviews to a minimum.
Second strike: A number of toy manufacturers have declined offers to purchase the licensing rights.
Otherwise? Huge fan of the original book.
Follow Ups:
The official premier is not until October 28th, (I believe), in which case that is when the press will be allowed to review it.
And, this movie is not really a kid's movie, (despite that there is a kid in it), so not having toy licensing is not too surprising.
(In fact, maybe that is a good sign, in as that perhaps they did not dumb it down as Hollywood is so very good at doing!)
I am going to see it with a bunch of friends the weekend following its release, (I'm combining the movie with a game night, (Eclipse is our current favorite boardgame), so that will blend in nicely!)
