Ably directed by and starring Billy Bob Thornton, this Southern situated film takes place following the death of Robert Duvall's ex-wife, whose most recent husband (John Hurt), grown son and daughter bring the corpse (Tippi Hendren, kind of) back to the her first family for a Southern burial, in a mix of pretty stereotypical but wacky Southern attitudes meets pretty stereotypical but wacky British attitudes in 1969 Georgia.

One thing everyone shares is the many experiences and various traumas of war left on different generations of war vets.

Lots of interesting, quirky characters, some great acting (especially BBT) and an overall engaging, enjoyable film worth the two hours.

If you like Duvall and/or Southern based films, I'd say it's a must see.

This must have gone straight to the shelves in 2012.
