The Wachowski's have "tried" to sneak in a morality tale somewhat reminiscent of the Matrix into this yarn...instead of humans that are batteries, we are now a commodity farmed and condensed for our essence and the 1%ers are using us for Profit...on a Universal scale...
The best 10 minutes of the movie is when "your Highness", is trying to get registered...it goes from this ultra high-tech world, into this very Terry Gilliam like homage of low-tech future bureaucracy, lead be a effeminate robot...
I was really searching for some saving graces with-in this movie...but with waaaaay too many "just in time, saving the day moments"...it was hard to find...
Visually it is ground breaking...but just really got beaten to death, by every action sequence being 5-10 minutes too long...I personally feel, I have become immune to CG when it is the plot, with zero...zip...nada...character development...you just don't care about anyone...

I think I'd pretty much agree with your assessment. If only the story had a bit more substance to it. I love Mila (twice named sexiest woman in the world!), and she seems to be a nice girl (but does that go with sexy?), however it looks a little bit as if her eyes are starting to bug out as she gets older. I hope that's just a momentary impression.
