and feel an award may be given for the ROLE not the actress. It was very educational and timely for Baby Boomers. Not that Moore wasn't great, I just think any number of actresses could have done the same thing.
I almost hated "Boyhood" for being so boring and seemingly unnecessary. The EFFORT will get the awards not the results.
I was all for Keaton until I saw Cooper. Keaton was himself while Cooper was really another person--spooky.
Good chance this years darts will be all over the board.
PS. Simmons should get his Oscar this year.
Follow Ups:
BW...nice observations...I am now searching my brain looking back at past winners...
Boyhood...was a "statement" to the modern family nucleus...IMHO, we had the Ozzi and Harriet model, that ran 25+ years too long...
Being a child of the 70's, I had one friend whose parents were divorced...it was really hard on him and he was only child...Boyhood, was look...divorced kids turn out ok...this is the new normal...I would like to thank the Academy...
Cooper verse Keaton...Cooper did nail Kyle and I believe I commented it was by far his best role...But I felt Keaton's performance was nuanced, even though his mannerism were not...his internal dialog and Birdman persona were two different streams of thought...the surreal aspects of Birdman...wasn't necessarily "HIS" internal dialog...almost 3rd person...3 sides verses 2...just my $.02
thanks
Mark
