I attribute reasonable play time, perfect scenes and I guess relatable tone to movies I watch a lot.

Maybe movies without a lot of fluctuation in tension. I really like Night of the Living Dead and One Flew over Cuckoo's Nest, but I wouldn't watch them routinely.

No Country for Old Men, Trainspotting and Less Than Zero are examples heavy rotation. What guy couldn't sit for The Godfather, either. Too long though.
