I've never seen such a deadpan, lifeless characterization. Bullock was asleep on her feet and I was getting really mad about sitting there. Then, around midpoint, she tells someone she's been suffering from extreme depression for years--since she gave up alcohol. Well, that only explained things--it did not make her any better.
To me, it was a weak script. All the second bananas did well and de Almeida shined brightest as the former Presidente trying for office once again.
There are a few funny lines but that's about it--few. Billy Bob played an evil incarnate of a campaign manager who jousted with Bullock throughout the film. Maybe a mild highlight.
The trailer was the best part of the film and I would heartily reccomment a DVD or cable presentation--if at all.
