I like that wide-range disclaimer because this was a "fun" movie with a dose of drama. I expected something different along the lines of being a comedic biopic. It wasn't that. The film was a semi-light hearted water color of Brit writer Alan Bennett's extended, unintentional hospitality to Miss Shepherd who was a perpetual denizen of Camden.
Alex Jennings played a duel role of Bennett and his alter ego who had a constant dialog about Smith, her van, her smell, and what would she do next. Smith play the progressively doddering ex-nun with a musical past straight up and elicited the same kind of titters she gets from "Downton Abbey".
This is a very mature movie that is enjoyable with its mirth and surreal reality. Certainly worth a see whether by walk-in or cable.
