Somebody made a pretty film with pretty people that has a whiff of upper crust exhibited by a busking classical violinist and a classical dancer trying to make it in NYC.The pretty young princess becomes smitten with the subway virtuoso and attempts to help him recover his violin, enter a dance-strings competition, and start a solid relationship despite his lack of a "green card". This is not your typical "dance flick" by the fact of having mixtures of classical and contemporary dance homogenized.
Keenan Kampa plays the young and very blond dancer on the verge of pale-ing to death. Being a ballerina makes this easy for her and her performance wasn't bad. (Not a demanding script.) Nicholas Galitizine plays the incredibly talented violinist with a somewhat dark personality. The problem with Nick is that he is "too pretty" and it gave me a sense of everything being contrived to please. Sonoya Mizuno played Kampa's undisciplined roommate. (She was also the dancing-sex machine in 'Ex Machina'.)
Not sure who the film is actually aimed at but I saw it alone at an afternoon matinee. I guess I punched my teen-aged girl ticket once again. You salts should just forget this one. (Surprising tommater response.)
