I think it's tough for someone who considers Moore a disgrace to want to subject themselves to a Moore film. For instance if I put myself in their shoes and say a Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, or Ann Coulter put out a film and someone on a forum says - hey their movie isn't too much like their usual "themness" - I am still not sure I would want to put any money or my time into watching said production basically helping to fund them as people. And in a sense that's what a lot of Liberals ask non liberals to do - hey this time Moore is not so Liberal - so please pay to watch him.
I found him to be more matter of fact this time around and his commentary on Mr. Trump was more in the alleviating liberal fears that he has donated to various liberal causes all along and basically he says it's just an act. Indeed, if what MM said in the youtube is true and it is an act then indeed his real personae could actually be left of HC.
As someone who has traveled the world a fair bit not many of the things surprise me too much in the movie - I think these kinds of movies tend to preach to the choir. This is probably the film that wouldn't alienate too many conservatives and might make them shift a position or three. The problem is it's made by the guy who has already alienated them.
In other words if it was made by someone nobody ever heard of then more conservatives would probably watch the movie and indeed watch it with a less biased eye. Here they will watch it waiting to pounce on any sliver of an iffy truth because it's Moore but if it was say made by a nobody it would be viewed likely as more down the middle.
It's why a lot of people like the TV Show the "West Wing" even though it was a liberal president they wrote very strong conservative characters that often won the argument and were not all written as buffoons - And when the odd one was a buffoon they were sure to have liberal buffoons as well. Buffoonery isn't linked to one side.
I'm pretty Liberal and I'd marry Ainsly Hayes in a heartbeat - c'mon if every Republican was as smart and sweet as her!! Okay and hot - I'd be all over it. In the linked scene which I love - now you can read the people below arguing over the 14th amendment and why Ainsley's character may be in the wrong but the point was that they wrote the other side well and why it supposedly generally did well with conservatives even though on balance it was a liberal show. I wish more shows had some sort of brain writing behind it. S.2 of the West Wing was my favorite probably because of Ainsley.
