We start out with a nice OSS-type plot with Pitt teaming with Cotillard to perform a hit on a German ambassador in Casablanca. They go through all the necessary steps to look like a married couple and, of course, fall into the real thing. After being successful in their mission they both go back to London to resume life behind a desk (Pitt) and Coitillard as a new mother. Things seem find up until that point. We have that polished WW2 vibe and two people who seem to be very much in love.
Love, until Pitt is called into V Branch and told his beloved wife is most likely a German spy. Now, here is where the romantic pap takes over--the part your SO will like. Pitt goes to great ends, including landing behind enemy lines, to prove to himself she is who she says she is. It's all quite a stretch.
This is some of the worst acting Pitt has delivered so far. He needs to stick to 'Fury' roles and action stuff. Serious drama and comedy are not his forte. Coitillard was just fine but I think the script was a tad lightweight for the plot.
No matter what happens, we still manage to win the war.
50/50.
