I didn't even remember the "orgy scene" until I read about it on a news website. What floors me is how, several times an episode, the witches have occasion to "praise Satan' when something nice happens. They are constantly speaking in great reverence about the "Dark Lord" and cheerfully referencing the "False God" when something is amiss. One of Sabrina's junior high buddies is a tranny who gets picked on by football goonies and her live in cousin from England is gay and having an affair with a white warlock who drops in when convenient. Then there are the three evil teen witches who do lots of evil (even killing Sabrina's boyfriend's brother) and the raising of the dead. The witches high school even has that famous satanic statue of Baphomet the real church of Satan is suing over for copyright infringement where a lot of action takes place in front of it.
I never had a reason to read a Sabrina comic book but have no problem presuming this kind of satanic hi-jinks (curses, spells, dead being raised, High Priest and auntie Zelda flagellating each other, more social taboos exposed) where ever referenced.
The damnable thing is that this evil is presented in a lighthearted but serious way. It is not made for impressionable teen aged girls.
The attendant cast is good and Shipka is the reason I tuned in. I'm surprised Netflix is sliding this one under the wire without any parental warnings.
Follow Ups:
it may deserve an R rating or at least a PG-13.
