I am wondering what the cylindrical bulge is in VGA cables. This would be the Bulge that is found a few inches from the plug. And what it's purpose might be. ThanksCut-Throat

I think its a ferrite ring. They are used to block/absorb RFI/EMI(?). I have an HDMI cable with those too.
