I recently tried to connect my LCD TV to my cable box through the DVI connector. Because my TV is slightly older it didn't work because it wouldn't process HDCP.
I would love to use the DVI connection for a DVD player, but am worried that most modern players will not play through because of copy protection that the TV will not authorize. Are there any DVD players that have DVI/HDMI output without HDCP, or am I stuck with component?

There were some DVD players that didn't have HDCP on the DVI output -- V Inc's Bravo D1 and Bravo D2 and the Momitsu V880 come to mind. As for HDMI, I only recall one player that didn't have HDCP on the outputs (Neonuo?). I believe all of these players are out of production, but you may be able to find them on ebay or in the classified section of some video sites.
I have a Bravo D1 with very few hours on it that is Region free and has Macrovision copy protection disabled, if you're interested.
