DVD player problem?

I have a relatively new universal player, Denon 3930. A couple of recent Netflix DVD's won't load. All I get is a humming noise. Other DVD's and all CD's have played fine.

Is this probably due to some poor DVD's or is it the beginning of a mechanical problem?

Problems with rental discs and none with other discs would tend to lead me to believe that the rental discs are in bad shape. I often find that cleaning rental discs helps when they play up but it doesn't always help.
