The HDMI cable is feeding both video and audio to the TV. Because there's a lot of digital processing going on in the TV there's probably a slight delay introduced in the audio, whether you use the TV speakers or feed the TV audio out to the amp. You don't have the same delay with the audio feed from the TV player to the amp. When you combine the two, the TV sound will always lag the direct audio feed from the player to the amp.
What you need to do is simply mute the TV while using the amp to play DVD audio. That would result in better sound anyway, regardless of whether or not the delay existed in the TV's sound. You'll always get better sound in stereo using just one single pair of speakers, not 2 separate pairs separated in space and with different tonal and dispersion characteristics. Choose either the TV speakers on their own (ie don't turn the amp on) or the amp and its speakers on their own (mute the TV) and the problem will not only disappear but the sound quality will always be better than trying to combine the two.

Follow Ups:
Check your TV owners manual and see if the default sound setting is one of the simulated surround sound modes. There probably other settings on the "audio" menu of the TV, ie standard stereo. Try them all and see if the setting makes any diffreence.
There is probably a menu key on your TV remote. Hit that and then go to the audio sound menu. I'm not sure what Sanyo might call this, but on my Sony there is a choice of three "effects", true surround, simulated surround and off. The latter should be standard stereo.
