Is there a way to know without connecting? I'm in Singapore and Bluray/HDDVD are not yet easily available! The stores I am checking do not have such players to test. Will the picture be completely disabled or will it be scaled down? Will the player's menus, etc (when not playing a disc) show?
Follow Ups:
Pretty much any consumer TV with HDMI is HDCP compliant, and most of the older consumer TVs with DVI are HDCP compliant as well. I don't think you need to worry, unless you're buying something that's more than five or six years old.
If the TV does not support HDCP, you will not get a picture (not even player setup menu) over the digital connection.
Thanks, I'm buying a new one from a store. But only a very few explicitly mention HDCP and so I was concerned, especially since I am considering a product from a relatively unknown brand.
