I was channel-surfing tonight and all of a sudden, I could no longer pick up the TNT-HD feed. The help menu told me they couldn't detect an HDCP connection to the display. The absence of HDCP handshaking is understandable since I'm using the component outputs to feed the display but why mess up the component feed ?
A few letters to TNT and Dishnetwork will only partially placate the outrage. I might have to breakdown and get a DVI/HDMI switcher but it's not clear to me how well some of the switchers can pass the HDCP-handshaking properly....
Can I expect more HD broadcast channels to start using HDCP ?

Let me know.

to feed a 50 ft DVI cable in addition to the 50 ft component cable. Currently using a single HDMI to DVI adapter. Hmmmm ... maybe go get another HDMI to DVI adapter and use a
3x1 (2x1) DVI switcher. I'd be interested in trying it out.
Oddball things you have to do when you don't have any digital video switching anywhere in the system.
My issue went away when (1) the program material changed on the TNT channel or (2) the HD tuner suddenly figured out there is no HDCP-limitation on Component outputs. I'll actually need to read the TV guide to figure out what was showing when it started to act up ???????
