>>>A better test might have been to ensure the HD DVD version also had a DTS HD MA soundtrack and cranked down the video bitrate to make sure everything still fits.<<<
why on Earth would anyone do that? Why put AQ before PQ? That makes no sense. RBFilms specifically stated that PQ comes first, then AQ, and that's how he made the discs. Personally, I want PQ to have priority, or else I'll just go and listen to my stereo.
BTW, When did you get a 1080p projector?

Follow Ups:
...at some bitrate closer to 10 mbps than the 26 Mbps used in "Nature's Journey". If true, you could have included the lossless audio track without compromising the PQ. A lot of AVSforum folks have bought into this argument and pummeled RBFilms for not putting the lossless audio track on the disk instead of maximizing the available HD DVD video bitrate.
If I do perform any blind testing, it will be on someone else's 1080p 126" display. Also, don't forget, 1080i is "good enough" in the HD DVD world of "cheap" Toshibas. :)
I haven't been overly impressed with MPEG2 though.
