I believe that HDMI max. length without a repeater is 50'. Coaxial component video can go much further depending on the source and cable that you use.
Go with the HDMI if you need digital audio down the same pipe.
Many sources will only put up to 480p over component. If you're feeding a large display that has a good video processor, and you don't need audio on the same run, I'd look into a high quality component cable.
If your source has a better video processor than the display, go HDMI with or without audio.
