If you buy a backup bulb and store it for, say a year or two, and if you replace the original bulb with this bulb and the replace blows up in a day or so (early failure from manufacturing defects are common), how do you claim under a 3-month warranty?
I have that precise issue. The bulb in my Sony Qualia blew up after about 18-months of use, and it took the dealer more than 3 months to get in a replacement (does not look good in terms of long-term support by Sony). I immediately ordered an other replacement to have on hold, but this is a gamble.
