I see that prices have dropped dramatically over the past year. Optoma had a price-leading 1080p projector at the end of last year selling around $5000. Now they have a $2500 model. Sanyo is selling its well-reviewed PLV-Z2000 for $2195 after $300 rebate. I haven't come across anything cheaper in a 1080p projector. With very good 720p projectors routinely selling below $1000 now, how long do you think it might be before the prices drop below $1500 on the 1080p models? Is it possible that with the declining dollar, they might not ever get that low?
Follow Ups:
projectorpeople.com has well regarded closeout PT-AE1000U projectors for 2199 not including an addl $100 off for holiday sale and free shipping today. the successor AE2000U has arrived.
$1500 1080p probably waits till next summer. But the question is will they ultimately be better than the 720p PTAE200U which is $1250 now.
