I am currently in Korea while my mom is back in Canada. Anyway our 6 year old JVC Tube TV is falling apart - the screen is dropping and it takes a few minutes to get going.
She needs a cheapish new tv and preferably one with a headphone jack. She wathes cable tv and some DVD's. The headphone jack is a key feature because her hearing is poor.
This one is bigger at 40' over her 32' tube - but she is worried that the LCD screens are too slow - I have not been looking at these for a few years but they seems glitchy back then with a lag time that tubes did not have.
That said my laptop LCD is perfect in this regard.
I am not the least bit up on LCD tvs. Samsung seems like a good brand - no JVC please this is two JVC in a row that have stunk out the joint for us.
If you can think of another good alternative for the same money that has a haedphone output let me know.
Also - how good are these things from a build construction perspective. In the old days you bought a V and got 20 years from it -- not I see 1 year warranty which they push and push - I am leary on warranties but these screens look really cheap to build -- $50.00 worth of materials going for $1-$3k?
Follow Ups:
In Korea, basically LG and Samsung are the big two, and you really can't go wrong with either. I have been very impressed with LG "XCanvas" LCD TV's. Simply fantastic picture quality. Not sure if it has headphone out, but one can be bought for very cheap these days of Ebay..
