Needless to say, I liked it. I am partial to scifi, so I can never tell if anyone else is going to like it. I think eventually advances in genetics will render it forever cheesy, so you better hurry ;)
Follow Ups:
Dick is a good writer and "Do Androids Dream Electric Sheep" is a classic. Scott is one of my favorite of the bigshot hollywood directors. So I liked the sets, the somber tones and the way the shots were filmed and framed.
The pacing, acting and emotional (or lack thereof) impact of character interactions just gives me nothing to sink my teeth into. Ford in particular gives an insipid, disjointed performance in which he seems to overact even when he is underacting. Same with Hauer. Many of the action sequences appear amateur. I see why it's a cult classic, but step away and evaluate it and it's a real mess.
A coworker is a huge Blade Runner fan and when he expressed interest, I told him I'd sell him my BD set for $35, he started talking about upgrading his TV and buying a blu-ray player. That was easy...I didn't even have to "proselytize, cheerlead" or anything else the morons accuse me of doing. The fact is there is a fair amount of interest in Blu-ray, and for good reason.
