Lets say in coming years that films would be sold on a lets say 60 gig CF or some sort of card. Here is my point, delicate pins and sockets in both the player and software card. There has to be a better physical connection that is more robust that will still allow insert/eject and high data transfer.
On a similar vein, a friend of mine who drives a new Audi has a flash based card player. How handy! No spinning disks.........
What do you say??????
Follow Ups:
I anticipate that in the not too distant future movies will be stored on high capacity flash card memory of some sort.
It would be cost prohibitive to store full length movies this way currently. but look at what has been happening in inexpensive digital video cameras for future clues.
In time, they will be on some sort of memory device, without a doubt. Once memory gets cheap enough, it will happen. No moving parts means greater reliability.
