what the statement 1080p/24Hz Compatibility for HDMI and Component means? Is it just sales hype?
I have done some research and found that the PS3 seems to be the best way to go for bluray. It seems to be all the rage over at AVS forum.

and process it for optimal viewing at the screen's native resolution. Even my 6-yr old Pioneer plasma could do that (it was made long before BD was introduced).
Basically, your screen will handle anything you throw at it. You just won't get that 1080p native resolution.

That's pretty much what I thought but wasn't sure. I just started looking a few weeks ago so I haven't gotten up to speed on fact vs fiction and hype yet. I am looking forward to getting it setup when it gets here next week. I've heard so many good things about the Pioneer.
I've got a 55" Toshiba Cinema series rear projection now which is about 10 yrs old. It was among the top in its day and has been a good and reliable performer. But the picture quality of the new sets is so much better that it puts my Toshiba to shame. But again, it owes me nothing
Thanks again for your help
