Budget HT receiver help

I'm looking for a budget HT receiver with HDMI input/output. I've narrowed it down to a Marantz SR4001/2 or the Onkyo TX-SR605. Looks like I can buy either for about $300. Any opinions?

I have a Marantz 4001 - like it a lot. Great for HT, good for music too and very easy interface. Prefer it to the Denon I had for a week before getting the Marantz - returned the Denon.

If you want all sorts of bells and whistles, get the Onkyo. If you want a receiver that sounds good on 5 channel music, get the Marantz. Since most HDTVs can do their own upconverting of sources, I can't see how the Onkyo 605 would be useful in this regard. BTW, do a google seasrch for Onkyo 605 + heat problems (to be fair, the heat issues are associated when the video processing kicks in).
