LPCM is digital. D/A conversion is the the processor in this case.

From what I have read, lpcm should sound just as good as dolby hd or dts master. It also seems that none of the eq software in the new pre/pros can be aplied to dolby hd or dts master but can be apllied to lpcm if I understand correctly.
